York's Wild Kingdom in York Beach, Maine is a privately-owned and operated zoo looking for animal care employees. Caretakers are needed for various animals of the zoo including Asian, Australian, American, European, African mammals, reptiles, and birds in addition to the Petting Zoo and live educational animal presentations. Much of the indigenous and non-indigenous species are intangible and candidates must possess a willingness to learn about complicated behaviors which are a result of their elusive nature. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact well with staff and visitors. Additionally, physical ability to perform strenuous work and lift at least 50 pounds is essential. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays and be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
